Interval Training Exercises Have a Way of Affecting the Body’s Metabolism

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

So you want to have six pack abs? Well, ab machines are not the answer. Abdominal machines are able to strengthen the abdominals but they are not the answer. Training with resistance, watching your diet and lowering stress in your life are key to help you get six pack abs.

Doing resistance-training increases the body’s metabolism resulting in increased muscle mass. Excess body fat is consequently used to fuel the resulting increase in muscle activity.

Interval training exercises have a way of affecting the body’s metabolism. The exercise’s anaerobic method allows the body to increase its metabolism by making the body adapt to the increased demands of the training. The increased activity causes the muscles to burn more fat. The body then utilizes the excess body fat to fuel its activity. In addition, fat burning continues well after the exercise session to provide more fuel to the muscles.

To get ripped abs, we have to watch what we eat. We should keep a balanced diet and avoid fast food, fatty food, sodas and processed foods. In watching what we eat, we can better control our caloric intake.

Eating 5-6 meals a day and by decreasing meal portions, we are better able to control the calories we consume and maintain our energy and blood sugar levels. In doing so, we are better able to utilize and consume the calories we eat and burn off the excess fat.

Stress makes our body store excess body fat in the belly area. When we are in a stressful situation, our body stores fat in our belly because of the hormone Cortisol, which is released during stress.

Meditation, deep breathing, tai chi and yoga can help us manage our stress levels and help to reduce the storage of excess fat in our belly area.

Building Your Six Pack – How To Get Great Abs Fast?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Your abdominal muscles, otherwise known as your abs, are extremely important in your physical health. Your abdominal muscles are at the very core of your body and can help the rest of your body stay healthy. Studies have shown that those with a “spare tire” around their waist are more likely to get health related medical illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and others than those without that spare tire hanging around.

Studies have also shown that those with strong abdominal muscles are less likely to suffer from a back injury. This is because your abs are strong and by working your abs, you are usually working your back muscles at the same time and you might not even know it! You can even improve your posture with strong abs.

1) Description of the various ab muscles – You have more than one ab muscle in your torso. There are six abdominal muscles in your body. On the sides you have what are called your internal and external obliques. You also have transverses abdominis, which actually goes all around the front of your stomach to your back. There is also the rectus abdominis, which is right in the middle and lower parts of your abdominis. When you see someone with a “six pack” that is their rectus abdominis. There are muscles that actually help your spinal cord that are called spinal flexors.

2) Exercises that target each area – Crunches are the first obvious exercise to help you lose weight and gain muscle in your ads. Crunches only target your front abs and not your “spare tire” abs or obliques. To target your obliques, you can do crunches, but instead of coming up straight, move to the side with your elbow touching the opposite knee. To get that spare tire muscle, you can do what I call reverse crunches. You lay on your stomach, put your arms down at your sides and pull your head, shoulders and chest off of the floor. You will feel it working mostly in your lower back.

3) Dieting strategies – Your diet can have a direct effect on your midsection. Foods with a lot of saturated fat, carbohydrates (that you don’t use) and other things can create that spare tire look around your waist. Drinking beer can have a huge effect on your stomach. First, you should choose a good multivitamin that you can take daily. Stay away from beer, potatoes and other fattening foods. Stick with a healthy variety of foods and drink lots of water.

To get the best abs you can, you need to maintain your complete program, including your diet, resistance training, supplement, weight training and aerobics or cardio. All of these truly help you create great ab muscles and keep your core healthy and strong. If you want that great six-pack-ab look and feel, you need to maintain all of these components of your health regimen.

Getting Ripped Abs Explained

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Abs. Got ‘em? Especially if you’re a guy, chances are, you’d like to make your abs more ripped. You can get more ripped, too, if you follow a few basic abs diet and exercise tips. When it comes to how to get ripped, you can get those abs you’ve always wanted — and it doesn’t have to be that hard. It is going to take some time, though, because you can’t expect overnight results. You didn’t get that “couch bod” in one day and it’s going to take a little bit longer to get ripped as a result.

Be productive

The training methods you’re going to employ have to be productive, or you could spend more time in the gym but see fewer results. So pay attention to these points.

Your diet

In fact, this is probably the most important part of how to get ripped. It’s at least half of the equation, anyway, and probably better than half (the other half is the effort and proper technique you’re going to put into your workout, along with just plain determination and willpower).

But wait a minute; don’t think that a single diet can help you get ripped. You can do a number of different things that will help you achieve the look you want.

Eat less than you burn

If you want to achieve definition and lose some body fat, you are going to have to take in fewer calories than you burn. However, the eating program you choose (as opposed to “diet,” which is truly a nasty a negative word) is going to have to be something you’ll like and will stick with.

Bulk up on the protein

You need to eat about a gram of protein per pound of body mass in order to help you build muscle. You want to lose the fat and build muscle, and to that end, you need more protein than you would if you were simply trying to lose weight.

How many calories?

Take your current body weight in pounds and multiply it by between 10 and 12. (If you’re significantly overweight, multiply it by a smaller number than that, such as eight.) This will give you the rough number of calories you need to consume in order to lose weight even as you are strenuously working out.

The way you break out those calories will go something like this: let’s say, for example, that your formulation says you should be consuming 1800 calories a day. Of those, remember that you are going to want to consume a gram of protein per pound of body weight, or about 180 g of protein if you’ve multiplied your body weight by 10 for the number of calories you get. A gram of protein has four calories, so 180 g times four is 720 calories. That means you should get 720 calories from protein.

15% of your calories should come from “good” fats like omega-3 fatty acids and healthy oils like olive oil and from lean proteins like lean beef. The rest should come from complex carbohydrates.

Your abs workout

You cannot simply work on your abs to get ripped abs. As to how to get ripped, you’ll have to simply lose the fat overall, gain definition, and then work on muscle groups individually.

Work smarter, not harder

Change your program out, but three to five days a week, do a workout on all the muscle groups by performing an abs exercise like crunches, along with other muscle group exercises like calf raises, rows, shoulder presses, deadlifts, squats, bench presses and lat pulls — two sets of 10 reps each until you tire the muscle groups out for each exercise. On alternate days, do some whole body cardio like jogging, swimming, running, bicycling, etc. Go for 30 minutes to start and ramp it up to an hour as you get in better shape.

Get abs? Got abs

Again, it’s not going to happen overnight, but following your program and your diet is going to show you how to get ripped. As you lose the fat in gain muscle and definition, you should see those ripped abs in no time at all. Remember, you can focus on your abs — but not to the exclusion of other muscle groups or of cardio, because that won’t help. You need whole body exercise and some decent cardio to truly get the body you want.

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I am going to start losing wieght. I have worked hard over the summer to gain a lot of bulk and I would like to lose body fat, with muscle loss to a minimum. I am 13, but trust me, I still know quite a bit about losing, and gaining weight. Just any tips you have will help.

Well than diet and do cardio. That will help lose weight and keep your muscle mass. Also you can do cardio in the morning, right when you wake up. This burns fat directly. Also always work out when you diet and do cardio. Hope this helps.

Help! How can i get ripped?!?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I am 16, male, 6 feet and skinny. I don’t do sports, only a marital arts class twice a week. And that class only gets me to sweat if i work really hard at it. And i don’t exercise at all. But i want to change that. How do i get abs and arm muscles? I have no acces to a gym or weights. So what do i do? What shows real results? I hate being so skinny and all this loose skin.

smoking a bowl usually gets me ripped.

it’s hard without weights…
but, here are some suggestions:

-try SLOW pushups. begin with 25 of them 3 X day the first week. add 5 pushups after each week. remember to do them slowly and properly!

-eat a lot of veggies, fruits, protein and lean meat. forget about the ‘bulk up’ shakes- do it naturally!

- do 50 situps 2-3 X day.

- find a park/pedestrian bridge/ building with a ton of steps. walk up & down steps for 15-40 minutes a day. it will tone & bulk up your quads, calves and hamstrings as well as improve your cardio tremendously.

you will see results in a matter of weeks. in 3-4 months you will be CUT.

p.s. well done changing that pic.

How to lose belly fat without losing breasts?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

After years of being slightly underweight, I’ve finally put on 20 lbs. Unfortunately, I earned the extra weight through a steady collegiate diet of beer and pizza. I’ve never had breasts before (they’re now a B) but I love them, as well as my new hips.

It’s just that I can’t STAND my "beer belly". I’ve cut down dramatically on drinking and fast food, but I think I’ll need more than just a diet change to get rid of the belly fat.

I’ve heard that spot training doesn’t really work, but does anyone know if there is some way to lose belly fat without losing my new curves?

unfortunately, fat distribution is automatically done by the body.. there isn’t a way to keep good fat (breasts) and lose the bad fat (stomach). but, what i’d offer up is this. love who you are… no matter what shape your breasts are or your new curves… be fit. exercise and keep a good attitude towards whatever you have going in your life…
